The U.S. Postal Service will purchase six electric vans from startup Canoo, to be delivered later this quarter. The vans will be right-hand-drive versions of the Canoo LDV 190 van, according to a press release from the startup. Canoo’s website lists the LDV 190 has having a 79-kwh battery pack yielding an estimated 200 miles of range. The van has 200 hp, a 1,624-pound payload capacity, and 172 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear bulkhead in its stock configuration, the website says. In the fourth quarter, Tesla’s revenue from China was a record $6.1 billion, or 24.25 percent of its total revenue. Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) got $21.75 billion in revenue from China in 2023, or about 22.5 percent of its total revenue of $96.77 billion, according to an SEC filing today. Electric car sales continued to increase year-over-year in November, although the most recent registration data reveals that the rate of growth is decreasing. Registration data lags behind sales/deliveries, by at least several weeks, but can be used as a proxy of sales, especially since not all sales numbers are publicly available (specifically on a monthly basis). Stellantis last week detailed its STLA Large platform, which the automaker claims can house powertrains capable of hurling an EV from 0-60 mph in 2.0 seconds. That breathtaking acceleration figure may be something Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares now claims is a safety feature.
