Kia on Thursday added a hybrid version of its Carnival minivan, as part of a mid-cycle revamp that brings technology upgrades and somewhat more SUV-inspired styling.  The 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbo-4 gasoline engine, with a 54-kw (72-hp) electric motor at the input shaft of a 6-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels and making a combined 242 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. BMW is launching a wagon version of the all-electric i5—but it’s not coming to the U.S. The BMW i5 Touring, as it’s formally known, launches in Europe this May. Like the i5 sedan, it will be sold alongside internal-combustion BMW 5-Series models. Tesla’s (NASDAQ: TSLA) retail sales in China fell significantly in January from December, while exports from its Shanghai plant grew as it dedicated more capacity to other markets at the start of the quarter. China’s NEV penetration at retail was 32.8 percent in January, down 7.5 percentage points from 40.3 percent in December. China’s passenger NEV (NEV) retail sales in January were 668,000 units, the lowest since July 2023, due to seasonal factors, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). That was up 101.8 percent from a year ago, but down 29.5 percent from December.
