Tesla will unveil its Robotaxi August 8, CEO Elon Musk announced Friday. In his typical fashion, Musk made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), the social media site he owns. The post included the date with no further details. According to a Reuters report earlier in the day, Tesla has reportedly dropped its $25,000 affordable EV project in favor of robotaxis, a term for shared autonomous vehicles. The report said the Tesla Robotaxi will be built on the same platform as the scrapped $25,000 EV, sometimes referred to as the Model 2, but in smaller numbers. Tesla Robotaxi unveil on…
Tesla’s flagship electric pickup is a pretty polarizing vehicle. There’s nothing on the road quite like it, and that’s resulted in just about everyone’s eyes being glued to the shiny trapezoid, whether that’s for better or worse. Being a new product, the Cybertruck will almost certainly have some growing pains as the automaker works to mass-produce it. However, a number of failures resulting in an inoperable six-figure vehicle have caught the attention of many onlookers, and that’s not a great image for Tesla—especially while its sales are slipping and rumors of the company’s cheap $25,000 car being canceled are swirling.…
A photo of a large and conspicuously triangle-shaped vehicle in Munich, near BMW’s Research and Innovation Center, has surfaced on the internet, suggesting the German automaker is doing a teardown of the newly-released Tesla Cybertruck. Now that the Cybertruck is out, sightings aren’t all that uncommon, especially in California and Texas where most of the vehicles are being delivered. But one place that Cybertrucks still aren’t common is Europe, where it isn’t sold (and it’s unlikely that the vehicle will ever be sold due to its size and the likelihood that its high and boxy front-end wouldn’t pass pedestrian safety…
Reuters reported that Tesla has canceled its long-promised low-cost car expected to start at about $25,000. Musk called the report a lie. (Image credit: CnEVPost) Tesla has canceled a long-promised cheap car that investors had been counting on to propel its growth as a mass-market automaker, Reuters reported today. The US electric vehicle (EV) maker will continue to develop self-driving robotaxis on the same small vehicle platform, Reuters said, citing sources. The decision signals Tesla’s abandonment of its long-term goal, which CEO Elon Musk has often cited as its primary mission: affordable electric cars for the masses, the report noted.…

Out of Spec Motoring’s YouTube channel continues its deep dives into the EV pickup market in its latest video. This time, the Tesla Cybertruck, Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T and Chevy Silverado EV were competing in a tow test pulling identical payloads. Each truck hauled a Tesla Model 3 along I-70 from Denver to Grand Junction and back. This 230-mile trek each way through the Rocky Mountains served as an excellent test of each truck’s capabilities with bouts of significant elevation gain and extended periods of downhill driving. Among the competitors, the F-150 Lightning example was best equipped for towing…
