- As BYD’s halo brand, Yangwang is pushing further into the ultra-luxury executive sedan market with the 5.6-meter Altior.
- The limited edition of the Altior is capped at 399 units worldwide, with an expected price of 2,080,000 yuan.
Yangwang debuted its executive flagship sedan, the Altior, pushing further into the ultra-luxury executive sedan market.
The ultra-luxury brand of BYD (HKEX: 1211) unveiled the Altior in Abu Dhabi on Saturday and began accepting pre-orders for a limited-edition model.
The first version available for pre-order is the four-seat “Shanhe Dingyun” limited edition, which requires a deposit of 300,000 yuan ($44,660) in China and is capped at 399 units worldwide.
The version is expected to be priced at 2,080,000 yuan, though the figure is not yet final. A five-seat version will follow and is not part of this initial pre-order batch.
The new model will push BYD further into the ultra-luxury executive sedan market, competing for consumers with traditional luxury models such as the Maybach S-Class and the Bentley Flying Spur.
The new car is 5,600 millimeters long, 2,030 millimeters wide, and 1,590 millimeters tall, with a wheelbase of 3,500 millimeters. It features elongated body proportions that emphasize rear-seat legroom and its positioning as an executive sedan.
The new car adopts coach doors that open to an angle of nearly 90 degrees for easier entry and exit. The doors also feature umbrella storage compartments.
The exterior carries on Yangwang’s “Chinese tripod” front fascia with a dot-matrix gemstone grille. The body features a two-tone paint scheme, paired with large enclosed wheels and floating hubcap logos.
Official images show the new car’s four-seat executive layout, with 2 individual rear seats separated by a center console and equipped with leg rests and champagne glass holders.
The cabin features a symmetrical design with wood trim, metal accents, and diamond-quilted upholstery.
A control interface sits in the rear center area, and the car is equipped with electric privacy sunshades.
The “Shanhe Dingyun” limited edition offers an exclusive “brown rock and white jade” exterior and interior color combination, contrasting brown with white, and features edition-specific decorations throughout the cabin.
These exclusive details include limited-edition emblems, cloud motifs, Hetian jade air vent decorations, and gold speaker grilles, with aramid fiber used inside the doors.
The vehicle is equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology, enabling ultra-fast charging. It has a CLTC-rated range of over 1,000 kilometers, although Yangwang has not explicitly said whether the model is a hybrid or a pure-electric vehicle.
Yangwang also announced limited-time purchase benefits, including priority invitations to private preview events, dedicated consultant services, and priority test drives.
The debut fulfills Yangwang’s previously announced plan for a UAE unveiling. Hu Xiaoqing, general manager of the brand’s sales division, teased the executive sedan — internally codenamed “HU” — on October 21.
Yangwang’s existing sedan lineup includes the U7, which is offered in both plug-in hybrid and battery-electric versions. The brand also launched the four-seat flagship SUV, the U8L Dingcang Edition, in August this year, expanding its executive luxury lineup.
Despite the product line expansion, sales of Yangwang — BYD’s halo brand — remain limited in scale. The brand sold a cumulative 3,546 units in the first 10 months of 2026, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
